Helpful Instructions

Thanks for your purchase! Depending on which model purchased, your Misty Mate® will provide a cooling time of 2 to 3 hours of intermittent use (approx. 15 seconds every 2 minutes) or up to 20-30 minutes of continual use. (Note: You will have to re-pressurize after 10 minutes for continual run time.)

Operating Instructions

  1. Unscrew cap assembly from bottle.
  2. Fill the bottle with water up to the top of the hose inside the bottle.
  3. Replace the cap onto the bottle and close tightly. Ensure the on/off valve, located on the hose, is closed.
  4. Pump up the Misty Mate® 20 to 25 times. Make sure each stroke of the pump handle is pushed down completely and rapidly to the top of the cap, or the unit will not fully pressurize. It is normal to feel increasing resistance as the unit builds pressure from continual pumping.
  5. Open on/off valve and enjoy the Mist!
How Mist Cools

Pressurized water is forced through Misty Mate's® specially designed brass and stainless steel nozzle, atomizing it into an ultra fine mist. As the mist hits the air, it flash evaporates instantly, cooling the air temperature as much as 16°celsius. Misting is a safe, effective, and environmentally friendly method of cooling.

Misting Tips

Care and Cleaning

To clean the nozzle: A clogged or dirty nozzle will hamper the misting process and cause the mist to either "stream" or "dribble" out. Sometimes a simple "tap" of the nozzle will loosen any debris that may be causing clogging. If the nozzle remains clogged after tapping, please follow the nozzle cleaning instructions below for your "type" of nozzle.

First, determine whether your Misty Mate® has a type "A" or type "B" nozzle (see illustrations).

Type "A"

Type "B"
Type "A": Unscrew threaded nozzle and O-ring from nozzle adapter. Soak nozzle Misty Mate Nozzle Cleaner, following the instructions on the bottle. Rinse nozzle, replace O-ring, and re-insert into nozzle adapter, tightening securely.

Type "B": Using pliers, grasp "barbed nozzle" and while twisting, pull firmly out while holding tubing with other hand. (Caution: Use care to avoid damage to nozzle with pliers)

Soak nozzle in Misty Mate Nozzle Cleaner, following the instructions on the bottle. Thoroughly rinse nozzle and re-insert nozzle into tubing. Caution! Be sure nozzle is pushed in all the way!

Storage

Store your Misty Mate® in a cool dry area. Always empty your Misty Mate® after use. Never store a pressurized Misty Mate® in an automobile or on a hot surface. Extreme temperatures can melt or damage the unit.

Important! To prevent bacteria growth, always empty the unused water when not in use. We recommend rinsing out the bottle thoroughly before each use. Do Not Freeze or use near electrical appliances!

Here are some FAQ's:

Problem: Cap is difficult to unscrew.
Possible Cause: Pressure still in bottle.
Solution: Remove 2" piece (2" piece unscrews from the on/off valve). Hold the unit upside down and while pointing away from people, animals, or other objects. Turn the on/off valve on to release a small amount of water and the remaining pressure.

Problem: Plugged nozzle or Unit is shooting a "stream" water.
Possible Cause: Debris in nozzle or bottle.
Solution: Tap the nozzle on a hard surface. Scratch surface of nozzle (near opening). Remove nozzle (see removal instructions) and soak overnight in vinegar or Misty Mate's® Nozzle Cleaner, following the instructions on the bottle.

Problem: Mist is not "fine".
Possible Cause: Unit is low on water. Unit is not properly pressurized.
Solution: Add water to top of tube. Pump unit 20 to 25 times. Ensure that each pump stroke is rapid and goes all the way down to the cap.

Problem: Unit will not pressurize.
Possible Cause: Unable to get a tight seal. Missing O-Ring(s) or monovalve.
Solution: Remove pump cylinder from pump assembly. Apply a small amount of petroleum jelly to the O-Ring located under the cap, and/or the plunger seal (monovalve) located at the bottom of the pump assembly. Replace O-Ring(s) or monovalve.
